June 2020 Learning Resource/Students Services Teacher posting

Learning Resource Teacher - FULL TIME
Brockton School is currently seeking a Learning Resource teacher. This teacher will play an important role in supporting the diverse needs of Brockton students, while working collaboratively with parents, teachers, school administration, and external agencies. The teacher will be a member of the Student Services team in support of students with additional learning, social, and/or emotional needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting students in the classroom setting; developing, implementing, updating, and monitoring student Individual Education Plans (IEPs); and teaching small group lessons. As a member of the Student Services Team, the Learning Resource teacher will report to the Associate Director of Student Services.


  • BC Teacher Certification (Teachers Regulation Branch) or alternative as supported by the BC Teachers Regulation Branch

  • Diploma in Special Education or a Master’s Degree in Special Education

  • 3+ years experience in working with students with diverse needs

 Ideal characteristics:

  • Level B testing qualifications

  • Experience and expertise in reading and interpreting psychological-educational reports 

  • Experience and expertise in developing, updating, and implementing student IEPs

  • Knowledge and experience with the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

  • Flexible and innovative approaches to problem solving

  • Highly organized with attention to detail

  • Strong time-management skills

Associate Teacher – FULL TIME

Brockton School is currently seeking Junior School Associate teachers to help us in our mission to inspire students and to support teaching and learning. At Brockton, we promote personal and collective risk-taking and growth, therefore attracting professionals who strive to inspire students to want to learn.

As part of the Junior School staff, Associate faculty will play a key role in supporting classroom teachers, and in facilitating grade group and extra-curricular planning and programming. Ideal candidates must be collaborative, flexible, and compassionate. Given Associate teachers work closely with classroom and specialist educators, they must be open to feedback and be reflective about learning opportunities.

Qualifications: At least one of the following certifications:

o   BC Teacher Certification (Teachers Regulation Branch), or alternative, as supported

    by the BC Teachers Regulation Branch;

o   Education Assistant Certificate/Diploma or equivalent;

o   Early Childhood Educators Certificate (ECE).



o   Teaching experience an asset;

o   Experience working directly with young children an asset;

o   Passionate about learning and growing as an educator;

o   Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively;

o   Excellent communication skills;

o   Flexible and innovative when approaching challenges;

o   Highly organized;

o   Strong time–management and problem-solving skills.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

o   Assist in the implementation of the daily program and instructional activities;

o   Work with children individually or in small groups to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies;

o   Provide thorough and active supervision of students at all times and developmentally appropriate behavioural guidance;

o   Participate in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment;

o   Supervise outdoor play, snack, rest, and meal times;

o   Lead and implement before - and/or after-school programming for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5;

o   Participate in professional development workshops or courses;

o   Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees inside and outside of the school;

o   Follow directions given by leadership;

o   Other duties as needed.
