Brockton School is a nondenominational coeducational Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, independent school, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. As an IB World School, Brockton offers the Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma programmes.

Early Childhood Educator for JK & K Program

Brockton School is currently seeking an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) who will play an important role in supporting our Early Years students (Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten) within the classroom setting and during after school programming. The successful candidate will work part time hours, five days per week, and will also be given the opportunity to be our regular teacher-on-call (TOC). We have an amazingly collaborative team in our Early Years program and they look forward to welcoming the support of a new member. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Valid Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • Valid First Aid Training
  • Valid Criminal Record Check

Learning Resource Teacher - FULL TIME

Brockton School is currently seeking a Learning Resource teacher. This teacher will play an important role in supporting the diverse needs of Brockton students, while working collaboratively with parents, teachers, school administration, and external agencies. The teacher will be a member of the Student Services team in support of students with additional learning, social, and/or emotional needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting students in the classroom setting; developing, implementing, updating, and monitoring student Individual Education Plans (IEPs); and teaching small group lessons. As a member of the Student Services Team, the Learning Resource teacher will report to the Associate Director of Student Services.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BC Teacher Certification (Teachers Regulation Branch) or alternative as supported by the BC Teachers Regulation Branch
  • Diploma in Special Education or a Master’s Degree in Special Education
  • 3+ years experience in working with students with diverse needs

Ideal characteristics:

  • Level B testing qualifications
  • Experience and expertise in reading and interpreting psychological-educational reports 
  • Experience and expertise in developing, updating, and implementing student IEPs
  • Knowledge and experience with the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Flexible and innovative approaches to problem solving
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Strong time-management skills
