Brocktonís Grade 8-12 Track & Field team places 4th in Division Sat BCs

From Thursday May 31 to Saturday June 2, 11 Brockton athletes competed in 16 events alongside 2,400 athletes at the largest high school Track & Field event in Canada. This event was an outstanding end to a 13-week season that started in the frosty snow and ended in the sweltering sun!
Brockton finished 4th of the 150 Single A schools in BC!  Athletes achieved their Personal Best performances in most events, with Top 16 highlights being:
Matthew Benedet finished 4th in Jr. Boys 1500 Racewalk;
David Mwita 8th in Sr. Boys Triple Jump;
Eoin Macfarlane 10th in Sr. Boys 1500 Racewalk;
Tilly James and Brody O’Day 11th in the Jr. Girls 200m and Jr. Boys 1500 Racewalk respectively;
Emma Fairfield 12th in Sr. Girls 1500 Racewalk;
and Tilly James 16th in the most hotly contested event in the meet, the 100 metres.
Congratulations to everyone who qualified/competed:
Matt (Jr. Boys Discus, Shot put),
David (Sr. Boys High Jump),
Carley Sweet (Bantam Girls 100, High Jump),
Yalda Bakhtiary (Jr. Girls 1500 Racewalk),
Colin Benedet (Bantam Boys Shot Put),
Sydney Wilson, Stella Zed, Tilly James and Carley Sweet (Jr. Girls 4x100 and 4x400),
and Osama Muazzen (leading the way as an inspirational student coach).
The UBC Track & Field coach saw David compete, and asked him to come to the Open Track & Field tryouts in the fall!
Whether the athletes will continue to compete in university, or just continue the Track & Field lifestyles they have adopted, they more fully know what it is like to “Give Everything That They Could Give!”
Thank you to all coaches, parents, families, and friends who supported the team throughout the season!
