Diversity in Community: An Evening of Celebration

On Tuesday, June 12th, our community gathered for a heartwarming event at North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre! Hundreds gathered as we celebrated our Senior School students, and our graduating class of 2018. The evening began with Brockton School’s annual Senior School Visual Arts Exhibition. Visitors were welcomed by our student docents into the theatre’s lobby at 5:00pm, which had been transformed into an art gallery, acknowledging our students’ accomplishment in visual arts, and enabling students, teachers, and parents to learn from each other. The World Music Program took to the stage at 6:30pm to continue the celebration of this year’s graduation theme: “Diversity in Community.” Students from grades 6-12 performed a diverse program of repertoire, interspersed with touching speeches given by this year’s graduates. Each graduate chose a graduation tribute piece, which was skillfully performed by the Senior Specialized Ensemble. The evening ended with the Senior School Choir welcoming the graduates into the hall for the official graduation ceremony. Faculty members gave tributes to each student as they were handed their diplomas, and our graduates took home multiple awards/scholarships. We would like to thank all of the administration, teachers, staff, board members, parents, alumni, and students who made this very special evening possible!
