An independent co-ed IB school (JK to Grade 12) in North Vancouver, Canada
September 30th 2020

Brockton staff and students engaged in many different assemblies and lessons centered on the importance of Orange Shirt Day. Orange shirt day was initiated by Phyllis Webstad. She was born on Dog Creek Reserve and is Northern Secwepemc from the Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation and was only six years old when she was put in a residential school in British Columbia and stripped of her brand new orange shirt. To honour Phyllis and all other indigenous children, we as a Brockton community wore our orange shirts on September 30th to show respect and acknowledge the legacy of residential schools.
