An independent co-ed IB school (JK to Grade 12) in North Vancouver, Canada
December 10th 2020

It was an exciting week as students across Brockton participated in Computer Science Week and the Hour of Code: a global movement reaching tens of millions of students around the world through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming. Of course at Brockton, computer science, computer programming, and coding are a consistent part of our curriculum through the Design Technology programs and more.

The recent Computer Science Week and the Hour of Code invited students and staff alike to stretch and explore exciting (and developmentally appropriate) realms of technology. At a time when technology is ever-changing, knowledge of coding is an important skill to learn. Students and parents can continue learning computer programming beyond the Hour of Code by exploring all the interactive lessons available on the website.

Check out Brockton’s Computer Science Week Website to play our student's games and other great activities that families can try at home! From coding their very own dance party to making music through scripts - Computer Science Week provided, among other things,  a fun way to practice critical thinking. As well, students from Grades 4, 5, and 7 showcased the Scratch games they’ve been developing in their classes.

Congratulations to all on your participation. Thank you to Mr. MacMaster, Ms. Cross, and Mr. Johnston for their hard work to bring computer science and design technology to all students.
