OUTDOOR EDUCATION AT A GLANCE

In Grade 5, we were excited to have Coast Wilderness First Aid Instructors join us for an introduction to basic wilderness first aid to connect with the Grade 5 Body Systems Unit of Inquiry. Students learned basic skills to manage hypothermia and hyperthermia, as well as how to build splints and slings out of naturally-found resources.

This week in Outdoor Education, our Grade 3 and 4 classes visited Loutet Farm. Loutet Farm is a unique partnership between the North Shore Neighbourhood House, the City of North Vancouver, and the University of British Columbia, designed to encourage local folks to become involved in and better understand food production and to have greater access to locally grown produce. If your child enjoyed the farm field trip, consider checking out Loutet Farm’s Volunteer Page for outdoor volunteer and service opportunities right in your own backyard.
