We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dynamic educational leader to be part of our Executive Leadership team at Brockton School as Director of the Senior School. Experienced with high-level operational and strategic planning, the Director of the Senior School is a skilled instructional leader who supports and engages all stakeholders in the implementation of the Senior School’s educational plan and the associated ongoing development of the school as a whole. With a demonstrated track record in administrative management and educational leadership, the Director of Senior School is experienced in addressing and resolving conflict and empowering a positive and inclusive school culture.
About This Role
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Senior School has the overall responsibility for all aspects of the Senior School (Grades 6-12) operations while working directly with the Executive Leadership team in promoting an overall healthy and innovative school environment. The Director of the Senior School will provide vision and inspiration to ensure the highest quality of teaching, learning, and educational experiences to ensure our students fulfill their potential. The Director of Senior School provides leadership and management of students and faculty so that the tone, environment, and culture model the values and mission of Brockton School. Additionally, the Director of Senior School will work closely with the Leadership Team to support faculty with policy implementation, curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices aligned to the school’s strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to foster a strong, supportive, and connected school
- Support meaningful and engaged relationships with all members of the school community
- Build collective responsibility for the mission and values of the school, particularly as a member of Executive Leadership team
- Communicate the vision, philosophy, and goals of the Senior School to all constituents
- Ensure that the vision and values of the school intentionally inform all decisions and practices
- Ensure the development of the whole child through school programs and activities: academic, extra-curricular, student life, service learning, leadership development, and student learning support
- Provide school-wide instructional leadership (in collaboration with IB coordinators)
- Work collaboratively with the administrative team to develop, lead, and implement strategic priorities
- Collaborate with other Directors to ensure consistency in expectations and programs across Brockton
- Act as the Direct Supervisor for all Senior School Coordinators, including Athletics, Student Services, Outdoor Education, and other.
Administrative and Operational Leadership:
- Ensure the smooth daily operations of the Senior School
- Manage regular and effective communication with the school community
- Ensure students and staff adhere to school policies, procedures, and expectations
- Comply with requirements set by the Ministry of Education and IB (in partnership with IB Coordinators)
- Assist with the hiring of teachers/staff, including On Call teachers
- Support the operational needs/initiatives of the Advancement team, particularly as it relates to Admissions/Enrollment
- Support the operational needs of the Business and Operations team, particularly as it relates to budgeting/finance and daily operations
- Oversee the coordination of extended day programs, assemblies, and events
- Maintain student discipline in accordance with policy and philosophy of the school
- Ensure that policies and procedures are annually reviewed and aligned to the school mission and strategic priorities
- Oversee and approve Senior School excursions and major trips
- Liaise with community organizations and outside agencies as needed
- Connect and collaborate with Indigenous Peoples within the community
- Attend school functions and events
Teaching and Learning:
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and educational research on a global scale
- Work with the IB Coordinators to ensure excellence in teaching and learning through the supervision of faculty and program development (curricular and co-curricular) for the Senior School
- Support teachers in matters of classroom, teaching methods, and general school procedures
- Work with all Directors to ensure consistency in programming across all grades
- Work collaboratively with IB Coordinators and other Directors to:
- Ensure courses of study are revised annually and aligned to Ministry and IB expectations
Lead, coach, and manage faculty in the areas of curriculum design and development, ensure consistency in instructional and assessment practices - Empower inquiry-based learning experiences
- Empower and support the work of collaborative learning teams
- Ensure continuous professional learning through targeted professional development opportunities that are aligned to the strategic priorities
- Ensure courses of study are revised annually and aligned to Ministry and IB expectations
- Plan and lead staff, faculty, and department chair/learning coordinator/grade meetings as appropriate
- Conduct faculty evaluations and support Professional Growth and Development Plans to ensure continuous professional growth and excellence in teaching practices
- Work closely with the Director of Junior School to establish positive transitions of students and staff from Junior to Senior School
Other Duties & Specific Tasks:
- Responsible for academic operations in the Senior School: opening and closing procedures; report cards, parent-teacher interviews; timetabling; and managing program offerings
- Help to coordinate the master school schedule by setting key dates for Senior School events and activities
- Work with Department Chairs/Coordinators/Grade Leads in budgeting, planning, and decision making for various aspects of operations including facilities (space, furniture, supplies, and equipment)
- Work closely with the Senior School Counsellors and Student Services team to ensure the academic and emotional well-being of Senior School students
- Act as a member of various committees as necessary
- Other duties as assigned

- Bachelor of Education and a Master’s in Education is preferred

Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Executive Assistant plays a vital role in the success of the School. This position supports the overall work of the Head of School and school as a whole. This role acts as a liaison between the Administration, Faculty and Staff, students, parents, community organizations and guests. This role frequently handles highly confidential and specialized information, including sensitive, strategic and organizational issues.
Assisting the Head of School:
- Maintains efficient day-to-day and long term schedules for the Head of School including calendar and travel management, budgeting and expense reporting
- Coordinates and supports the flow of information in and out of the Head’s office
- Schedules and organizes meetings, meeting rooms, catering and equipment as needed
- Drafts agendas and minutes for regularly scheduled meetings
- Connects with the School community as a first point of contact for Head’s office responding to inquiries or referring them to the appropriate destination.
Administrative Functions:
- Meet and greet all visitors to the office, providing a helpful source of information and assistance to students, staff, and guests
- Confidentially manages office files and archives, both manually and electronically, according to prescribed documentation and retention standards
- Manages and oversee all student records in accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines and practices
- Assists in the coordination of the events and activities during the school year
- Monitors Ministry of Education communication (for example, the Ministry’s e-Board and the Deputy Minister’s Bulletin) and support the distribution of relevant information to the Directors and Principals as required
- Provides leadership and administrative support for accreditation visits and Ministry of Education evaluations, including the creation of self-study reports and required responses to the appropriate agency in a timely manner, as required
- Checks the school’s website regularly to ensure facilities bookings and school calendar are in congruence
- Updates the Emergency Preparedness Plan binder including responsibilities flow chart and corresponding documentation for staff and faculty
- Gathers and analyzes information required for administrative action and reporting to the Ministry of Education, the Federation of Independent School (FISA), the Independent Schools Association of British Columbia (ISABC) and the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS)
- Creates, maintains, and communicates the long-range accreditation/evaluation calendar, representing a 3-year horizon
- Assists with the coordination of special events, staff socials, full faculty and staff meetings and full school assemblies, by ensuring that hospitality is organized (if required), rooms/spaces are reserved, RSVPs are organized (if necessary) and technical support is coordinated
- Uses multiple technical applications including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, graphics and presentation software, electronic calendar, email, and other technical/scientific applications to support the general administrative functions of the School
- Assists with mail outs/correspondence to the school community
- Supports evacuation procedures for fire, earthquake, and lockdowns as required
- Creates, manages, communicates, updates, and tracks all forms related to school operations
- Responsible for Ministry Reporting of the 1701, TRAX, Assessment Registration, Transcripts, and ES Audit

Qualifications:
- At least five years of experience as a full-time Executive Assistant

Brockton School is currently seeking a Special Education Assistant (SEA). This SEA will play an important role
in supporting the diverse needs of Brockton students, while working collaboratively with parents, teachers,
and school administration. The SEA will be a member of the Student Services team in support of students
with additional learning, social, and/or emotional needs.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting students in the classroom setting; contributing to
Individual Education Plans (IEPs); supporting behavioural support plans; and supporting small group
sessions. This SEA will report to the Divisional Director and, as a member of the Student Services Team, to
the Associate Director of Student Services.Requirements:
● Experience in working with students with diverse needs
● Experience in a classroom setting
● A clear, current Criminal Records Check for Work in Vulnerable Sectors (at time of employment)
● Legal standing to work in British Columbia, CanadaIdeal characteristics:
